Try this Indian-style fish curry that you can't resist.


Fish is the most-liked seafood for people around the world. In India, it’s one of the favorite staple foods that is eaten with rice in most states. Indian fish curry is a delicious and flavorful dish that is easy to cook but you can visit us anytime near Oakland Airport to savor this curry. But one thing that’s common among these Indian fish curries is the good amount of spices used in cooking. 


Today we’re going to give you a peek into the famous North-Indian style fish curry recipe that you’ll find in almost every North-Indian restaurant both in India and abroad. So, let’s not delay anymore and get started.


Ingredients 


For Marinade 

  • ½ kg fish (Basa)

  • 1 tsp Turmeric  

  • 2 tsp red pepper powder

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 

  • Salt to taste 

  • Oil for pan-frying


For the curry 

  • 2 large onions (chopped)

  • ½ tbsp ginger-garlic paste 

  • 3 medium-sized tomatoes (puree) 

  • 1 tsp cumin 

  • 1 tsp red pepper powder 

  • ½ tsp turmeric 

  •  1tsp coriander powder 

  • ½ tsp of black peppercorn

  • ½ tsp black mustard seeds  

  • ½ tsp of cloves 

  • 2 whole red chili 

  • ½ tbsp Oil 

  • Salt to taste


Cooking method 


For marination

  1. Take a bowl and put the fish pieces into it. 

  2. Add the salt, red pepper powder, turmeric, and ginger-garlic paste into it and mix them all together. Keep it aside for half an hour.

  3. Take a pan and put some oil into it. Now place the fish pieces into the pan and fry them until the color turns slightly golden. Now take them out of the pan.


For curry 

  1. Take a pot and pour the oil. Now add cumin, black peppercorn, cloves, black mustard seeds, and the whole red chilies into it and stir fry for a minute.

  2. Now add onion & ginger-garlic paste into the pot and stir fry until the onion becomes translucent. 

  3. Add the ground spices like red pepper powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and stir fry until the mixture separates from the oil into the pot. 

  4. Now add tomato puree and salt to and fry the mixture on medium heat for 3-4 minutes.

  5. When the mixture is ready, add 2-3 cups of water and let it simmer on low heat for 5 minutes covering the lid. 

  6. You may increase or decrease the amount of water depending on the consistency you need for your curry.

  7. Once you get the desired consistency, add the fried fish and let it boil for another 5-10 minutes.

  8. Serve with chapati and rice.
